Hello book lovers!
Today we’re going to share our book haul from this weekend. We went to Half Price Books with Ariel’s sister, and we couldn’t wait to share with everyone the books we bought!
Hayley
I will say, I think I went a little crazy this week! My best friend, Kammie, gave me like 5 or 6 old books of hers that she thought I would like, and then I went and bought 5 books at Half Price Books, and turned around and ordered another one online! Here are a couple photos I snapped of the books I’ve hauled!
(Small disclaimer- I bought the three books by Miranda Kenneally sometime last week, and was also excited to share those ones with you all also!)
- Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini: This is the first of a series, and to be totally honest, the first thing that grabbed my attention was the cover. It. Is. Beautiful. It may be a little difficult to see in the photos, but the cover is slick and shiny, and somewhat holographic. I’m glad I decided to read the inside cover, because oh my lord, it looks pretty good!
- Goddess by Josephine Angelini: This is the third in the Starcrossed series, and the cover grabbed my attention on this one as well. Being totally real here, I found this one before Starcrossed! BEAUTIFUL. COVER. Seriously, if you see them, take a good look.
- Neferet’s Curse by P.C. and Kristin Cast: This is one of the House of Night series novellas, talking about Neferet’s past. For those who don’t know, Neferet is this crazy, evil, super villain from the House of Night series, a former High Priestess, who had an insanely messed up past. I’m curious to see what made her so insane. I have a general idea, but in the series, her past is not mentioned much.
- Me Before You by Jojo Moyes: I know I’m going to earn some eye rolls with this one.. Here goes. I saw that this book was made into a movie, and I was curious to see what all of the hype is about. I read the description on Goodreads, and decided that I thought this book sounded really awesome, and I don’t want to see the movie until I’ve read the book (old habit I’ve had since like, birth). I’ve heard mixed reviews on this one, so I’m curious to see what happens.
- The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp: Another book-to-movie adaptation I’m curious about. I know this movie was released a few years ago, and have always wanted to see it, but have never actually sat down and watched it. Now that I know it’s a book, of course I’m going to read it before watching the movie! This book is not pictured because I ordered it online (from the Half Price website, of course) right after coming home with another stack of books. Oops..
- Defending Taylor by Miranda Kenneally: I love Miranda’s writing, and absolutely devoured Catching Jordan and Stealing Parker. I’m STOKED to read Defending Taylor, her newest addition to the Hundred Oaks High series.
- Breathe, Annie, Breathe by Miranda Kenneally: See above. I love her books, I can’t stop. This one looks amazing as well.
- Jesse’s Girl by Miranda Kenneally: Okay, a little honesty here. When I first read the description for Jesse’s Girl, I really was not excited about it, and it didn’t seem like I would be too incredibly interested in the book. Which is weird, because I’m a huge music freak.. Anyways, I decided a week or so ago that I would give it a chance and see how it is, because I want to read all of Miranda’s work. Her two books I’ve read so far were awesome, so I figured, why not give this one a chance?
The Unbound by Victoria Schwab is pictured, however, I bought this one a couple months back, it is just shelved with my other, newer additions. I’m still very excited to get my hands on it and crack the cover!
Ariel
Hello all! So I am addicted to buying books, but who didn't know that?! I went way overboard this trip and bought waaaaaayyyy more than I really needed. But I mean I could be addicted to meth so I think I’m doing alright! Also one part of this haul is the fact that I’m currently re-buying books that I may have lost or completing my series.
- The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: So I actually previously owned this book and I have read it several times, but dumb younger me lent it out to someone and I never got it back. For some odd reason I am also missing the last two books of the series as well so I have to get my hands on those two as well!
- Unearthly by Cynthia Hand: So in all honesty I bought this book because of how pretty it is. I also bought the book because hayley recommended it so I figured why not? It's a beautiful cover and I have heard many great things about it.
- The Girl On the Train by Paula Hawkins: This is the book I am most excited about! Todd and I went and saw the movie Lights Out the other day and this was a movie trailer. This book is being made into a movie and the trailer looked freaking amazing. When I was watching the trailer and saw that it was based on the book I knew immediately that I needed to read this book. After we are done with the house of night I am going to read this for sure!!!
- Redeemed by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast: I am currently reading this and it is the last book of the House of Night series. So far it is amazing. I am super excited to have this come to a close but I am also so sad that it is ending. We have reviewed all previous books on our podcast if you are interested in the books!
- The Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling: So I actually bought the first three books I just didn’t want to fit all three in the photo! This is the first time I have ever purchased the books. I bought them after reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. After reading the play I decided that I am (for the first time ever) going to read the harry potter series. Todd has started the series with me and after three days he is already on the second one! I am so proud of him and I am very excited that I get to share the series with him.
- Grey by E.L. James: This is the Fifty shades of Grey as told by Christian. I am BEYOND excited about this book. I know I know How lame am I?!? Alright so I read this series when it was beginning to get big and I loved it. I know everyone is thinking come on Ariel it’s a terrible series, but I really don’t think so! So when I saw this I snatched it right off the shelf and came home with me.
I also bought my baby sister two Pretty Little Liars books. She isn't a super huge reader like I am so any chance I can get to get her to read i'm going to take it. She really likes the books and I have recently started thinking about purchasing them and reading them! What do you think should I read them with my sister? Is it worth the hype?!?!?!
