So I don’t know about you but having a book addiction and being poor is not an easy thing. Well during my life I found some easy ways to get cheap and maybe even free books! How amazing is that?! In this post I am going to depart some of my knowledge onto you.
- Library: alright so this is an obvious one but it’s true. Libraries can be your number one resource if you can’t afford books at the moment. BUT did you know that some libraries have apps for your phone and or tablet? They do! The app is called Overdrive it’s on the Google Play store and the Itunes store. I am fairly certain that this works with all libraries and you just sign up for an account and use your library card number to access the books. From there you can download ebooks galore, but you can only keep them on your account for a short amount of time then the book expires.
- Little Free Library: So this is a super fun way to acquire fun books and it also helps the community! So little free libraries are little mailbox type deals throughout your town or city that are owned by homeowners. When you come across this cute little box you take a book from the shelf and then leave one in it’s place. They are completely run by your friends and neighbors and are completely free, it is also a great way to share your favorite books with the world! https://littlefreelibrary.org is where you can go to start your own library, find libraries near you, or find other reasources for the libraries.
- Half price Books: so this isn’t super original but this is an amazing store if you have one near by! Half Price Books is an amazing store and all their books are extremely cheap! The best part is they always have a wide selection of clearance books that can be as cheap as two dollars! I know people are probably saying come on Ariel this is totally obvious give us places we don’t know about, but let me tell you for as long as I have been buying books I only just remembered this place recently. So even though it may be obvious I wanted to add it to just remind everyone. If you don’t have a HPB in your area they do have an online store and they will ship it to your door! https://www.hpb.com/home
- Www.thriftbooks.com This is a website I have come across many times and I have seen alot of Tumblr users repost about this. This website is a used book online store that sells books for as cheap as 4.00 US dollars. There is shipping on this but if you buy ten dollars or more you do get free shipping which is a major steal! They have all kind of books from kids to adult novels which is fantastic.
- www.bookmooch.com Alright so this one I havent tried just because I’m not particularly great at giving up my books but this is a cool way to trade books for new books. This is a sharing site where you send people books and get points to purchase books from others. It is a super fun way to connect with people all while getting books! So there is no cost for the use of the website or using the points. The only price you have to pay is the shipping of the books you send to people so it is pretty cheap depending on the books! This is an interesting spin on book sharing but I really love it!
- www.booksfree.com This is my favorite site I have come across because it is NETFLIX FOR BOOKS! Who doesn’t love netflix? And having a subscription service like netflix for books is even better! With this you get to choose from several different prices where you can get anywhere from 2 books a month to 4 to 5 books at a time! It can get pretty pricey but it depends on what you sign up for. When you sign up for the service you make a queue of books you want to read and they send them to you and when you are done you send them back! It is free shipping both ways so you don’t have to worry about the return shipping. This can be one of the more expensive outlets but if you read all the time then it can be pretty cheap considering what you can pay to buy the books!
- www.bookbub.com This is a webiste where you give them your email and they send you cheap and free books daily! So this is an ebook site and they aren’t going to be super popular title but I’ve been using this for over a year and the books they send are absolutely fantastic. If you love going outside the box when it comes to books then this is the site for you!
So I’m going to wrap it up now but these are the best places I have found for cheap or maybe even free books! Let me know if you have found better outlets for cheap and free books I want to know all of the best places! I do want to put that The Book Hangover is not sponsored by any of these places or websites (but if they want to sponsor us we would not be opposed!) All of these opinions and reviews are based solely on my opinions as a reader and consumer!
Talk to you next week friends
~ Ariel ;)
