Hot Love Inferno by Nicky Blue
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I recently read the novella Hot Love Inferno by Nicky Blue. It was so good and I was pleasantly surprised. This was not a genre that we normally read and I normally am wary of other genre. I am seriously an old lady stuck in my ways. So when I started reading this novella I wasn’t sure who I would like it.
Hot Love Inferno is about a young man named Barry who lives with his mom after his sister and dad disappear. Barry is a gardner but also a ninja struggling to meet girls. His mom Molly and her best friend Merrill convince him to go on a date with Merrills niece. The two are having a nice date when it turns gruesome and slightly weird.
Hot Love Inferno was an amazing book that I really loved. After a few chapters I was hooked! I thought it was such a fun whimsical book....

Review: The Childless Ones
The Childless Ones by Cam Rhys Lay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The Childless Ones by Cam Rhys Lay is truly hit. I picked this one up not truly realizing the world I would be sucked into. This is the authors first novel and I truly believe it contends with the top novels in its genre. The book is two stories entwined into one. It truly is crazy that one person could come up with a world and book so intricate.
I really loved the character Sarah. I really don't know why but I really was drawn to her story and the entire time I wanted more from her. Serafina was a close second. Her story and character was one of the most intriguing and heart tugging. Cam really made some relatable characters with a full backstory for each one.
There is some parts that I did have some trouble getting through but it was mostly the "history" type chapters. There are a few chapters that are meant to be like research articles I guess and I had a hard time following and keeping interested in those parts. Even if you do have troubles with those chapters you have to read them because they are important to the story.
This really is a breakout hit and you definitely need to pick up this story. Cam is a wonderful writer and I cannot wait to see what he puts out next.

Review: The Girl from Everywhere
The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The Girl from Everywhere is by far my favorite book of 2018. This story is so sad and beautiful. I love that it isn't mainly focused on the love interests as well. The author focuses only on the love a daughter has for a father. Even if he is shitty. This really speaks to me and I related right away with Nix.
I also love the loosely based history in the book. The stories and history she bases the story on is really nice and makes the book seem even more real. The writing in my opinion was phenomenal and I truly could not get enough of this book. When I found out there was a sequel I was elated. I get even more Nix and her pirate family.
This book has history, time travel, pirates, daddy issues, and romance, what isn't there to love. I definitely recommend this book to everyone. It isn't your average YA book and that is the best part.

Review: A Court of Frost and Starlight
A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
So the a Court of Thorns and Roses series really isn't my favorite series but I like it enough to have kept reading this far. When I started this book I did not realize that this book is actually a Novella. Normally I am not one to read Novellas because they are filler books. This is exactly what this is. This book though it's a decent book and it is an easy read it's just fluff. I did read it around Christmas so it was a nice time to read it.
If you aren't a fan of novellas definitely skip this book. I don't believe there will be a lot that truly pertains to the next book but I really am not sure. I do look forward to the next book because this one did set it up really well. It leads you into the lives of the characters and gives you a nice bond while the time passes for the next book.
If you like novellas then this book you will definitely like, if novellas aren't your forte then I would say skip it.

Review: Legendary
Legendary by Stephanie Garber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Stephanie! You have done it again. Legendary was even better than Carval. It was insane. I seriously love this book. I didn't think she could top the first but she totally did. I was nervous at first having legendary be from Tella's perspective but she is just as interesting as scarlett.
I loved the new setting the book is in and I love that Stephanie ties in Tarot cards into the book. I am someone that LOVES Tarot cards so I really thought this was a cool extra she had. I feel like the magic was even more alive in this book especially since it took place not in Legends world it was in the "real" world. She has all of the characters come back but since it a new Caraval Game they personas change and it is so cool to see.
Stephanie does such a great job of showing the world she has made and really brings everything to life right in front of your eyes. It truly is insane. I definitely recommend this series to everyone. It is such a great series and the magic is truly there and you definitely get swept away even though you shouldn't.

Review: A Court of Wings and Ruin
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas was probably my favorite book in the series. This book was the most interesting and had the most action in my opinion. The writing was good and the author stepped away from tropes quite a bit in this book. I was very happy about that.
I loved the love story that develops in the book and I also like that Sarah talks about abuse in the book. A lot happens to Feyre and with a lot of YA books have a VERY abusive love interest and they never address it and it leaves girls to fall in love with the the shitty man that treats you like shit, but Sarah doesn't let that happen in this book. I really commend Sarah for doing this. This will teach girls that it's okay to not let yourself be treated that way.
I did believe that the story kind of lagged in the middle of the book. I had to push myself to keep going and get to the end of the book. I was a little disappointed in that aspect. Also Feyres sisters DROVE ME NUTS. I would be COMPLETELY okay if Sarah had just dropped those characters completely. I know why she had them in the book but man it was difficult.
I definitely recommend this book over the other two in the series, but you have to read those to make sense of this book. This is a pretty decent series and it is getting better as it goes on so I am interested to see what happens in the next book.

Review: Caraval
Caraval by Stephanie Garber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Caraval by Stephanie Garber was PHENOMENAL. This was actually one of my favorite books of 2018. This book was one of the first few books I read after a very long reading slump after my mom passed away. I was devastated and wasn't able to do the one thing I truly loved to do, read. Caraval brought me out of that slump and made me realize how much I missed reading.
There wasn't really any character that I felt completely invested in but it didn't take away from the story one bit. The magic and story behind the book kept me going even when I wasn't in love with the characters. There was a true sense of magic in the book unlike anything I had ever read before. When I read the book I couldn't get enough. You truly get swept away.

Review: A Court of Mist and Fury
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas was alright. I liked the book enough to keep reading the series but I wouldn't say I loved it. This book did help me get out of a reading slump after my mom died though. Because of that it will have a special place in my heart.
I liked the Rhys and Feyre the most out of all of the characters. They are the ones the author pushes you to care for. I did relate to Feyre having PTSD from being under the mountain in the first book. I liked the way Sarah wrote Ferye and I enjoyed her personality.
If you enjoy hard core YA tropes then this series is for you. If you aren't a fan of tropes and typical YA books then I would stay away. There is a love triangle, a poor young heroine that doesn't know she is beautiful but saves the day literally it is all there.
I am a sucker for Fae books though and I do enjoy the way she sets up her story and keeps it different even though Fae books all are based on the same stories. I do recommend this book if you enjoy YA tropes and if you like Fae books. I don't believe that the huge cult following that this book has is justified though. I really wasn't wowed the way that all of the followers who are absolutely in love with this book said I would be. I am a little disappointed in this book in the series but I will continue on with the series and read what comes next.

Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Alright guys, you may hate me for this one.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowling was not my favorite. I have always wanted to read this book because of everyone's undying love for it, and honestly it fell flat for me. I felt bored through almost all of the book. It was 100 or so pages of kids going to school. I'm sorry but I know what school is like I did not need to read that much. I honestly thought the book could have started with them getting detention because really that was the only the start of the actual book.
I wanted to love these books so much and I didn't. I have seen all the movies and I didn't mind them and my husband who doesn't read at all read them all so fast I wanted nothing more to understand everyone's love for them and I just couldn't. I actually tried to read this at least 5 times and everytime I got bored during the first chapter and I set it down.
Maybe these type of books just aren't for me. Who really knows. All I know is I think this book is kind of boring and honestly I wouldn't recommend this book. I need a book that reals me in from the first chapter and I was bored. This entire book I was bored. I wish I did like it more but I didn't. I will try to read the next book to see if maybe the second is better than the first, but I am not rushing to read it.
